This piece is on display in the lobby of the Canary District residences. It is made in collaboration with TwoRow Architect. It is made from re-milled timbers from the original Canary Diner, milled and expanded, held together but apart with
threaded rod with copper spacers. The piece sits on a welded steel base and substructure, with a granite top. I have included the original column markers from the 1850’s construction. This piece sits in a new building,
made of the old building, standing as a modern structure with hard lines made of organic material arranged with geometry aligned to the summer and winter solstice.
